HWRC Permit Scheme
  • If you are planning to visit any of the 14 Household Waste Recycling Centres on Merseyside in a commercial-type vehicle such as a van or a pick-up truck, or if you are taking a trailer over 2 metres in length, then you will need to apply for a Permit.

  • The permit scheme has two types of permits:

    Annual Permit (Frequently arising recyclables and green waste types)
    The Annual Permit is required when you are delivering recyclable items of waste from your home such as garden waste, newspapers, glass bottles, textiles, cans, batteries, small electrical appliances (kettles, toasters,hairdryers etc) and up to 2 bags of mixed, non-recyclable waste. These Permits are valid for an unlimited number of visits to a Recycling Centre over a 12 month period.

  • Temporary Permit (Bulky waste and non-recyclabe waste types)
    The Temporary Permit is required when you want to deliver bulky household waste such as furniture, rubble, scrap, televisions, white goods, wood and non-recyclabe waste. Up to 12 Temporary Permits can be issued in a 12 month period.
